In the absence of an illusion,
There were so many contusions,
Left upon the face of a dream,
Chronicles of aspirations,
Floated to the surface like foam,
The quiet waters tell a tale,
Of an ill-fated whale;
For reasons unknown to us,
Things are how they seem to be
Perhaps it lost its heart to the king of the sea,
A Mer-king who could not be part of its destiny,
Was it an orphan child?
Cast out from the herd like unsolicited urchin,
Left to the mercy of the wild,
Rude and boorish world,
Did it carry with in its heart?
A dream to terminate this transmutation,
From infancy to maturity….
Brainwaves and electrical pulses,
Formed an intricate trellis,
Marking the boundaries,
To the world of this water baby,
What had it seen...where it had been
What did it know...how did it grow;
Is it just a whale? Just a whale to your eyes,
Can you hear its cries? And its last sighs…
Carried over the oceans to its open grave?
Dissected…infected…with disrespect,
That human arrogance is capable of,
The grand finale to an artiste of the deep,
From a thing of beauty, to a lost soul
That came to our door,
And rolled its carcass on to our shore.
