A Letter You'll Never Receive

Contributed by karoody on Saturday, 3rd January 2004 @ 03:08:03 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I truely love you
Probably too much
I think of you daily
Miss you horribly
I hate you so much
You hurt me in so many ways
I don't want you around
Don't want to see your face
I'm trapped between reality and memory
In a place where you haunt my soul
Remembering days you made me smile
Comforted me
All the tears I've cried
As you broke my heart
Left me lonely
In spite of the pain you made me endure
I sit here wondering where I went wrong
Why it got to the point I had to leave
The day we met, my soul was aching
You promised me I would no longer hurt
Just one more promise you couldn't keep
Still I stood beside you
But it wasn't enough
So I walked away
Vowing to never retrun
I can't lie and say that I am happy now
Truth be told, I have been very lost ever since

Love does not analyse the person on whom we bestow it. It does not question or doubt..
Even in the more trustworthy society of yesteryear and with some experience and maturity, we stood no better than a 50/50 chance of a successful relationship.

Today the chances of success are much much lower.

I describe my own experiences way back in the forties and fifties (in my poem "He's not the only one") They are even more relavent today.

Your poem is so very well written it took me right back to those days. Brought back ghosts from the past (another poem "The way we were")

You are so right......people can't keep promises anymore.

You've ripped the words right from my heart ... I know exactly how you feel ...and am so very sorry ... I wish I could help in some small way, but I know nothing can mend the pain of lost love ... wonderful write ... Jan

Excellent write. Better to make amends today while you still may than to wait and have it be too late. I know too many who think there is always tomorrow and it usually comes back and get them. Great write though. I enjoyed it and it seemed as was said to have been ripped from your heart. Full emotion behind this one. Great.

Wow, I can soooo relate to this. Bit of a tear jerker, Karabear.

You have captured the essence of love, pain, hurt, broken promises, and that all encompassing feeling of we don't wanna love that person but dammit we do anyway. But hey, you didn't send the letter. That shows your strength that I keep talking about.

Good job!!!

*huge hug*

Tim
