CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

Contributed by Manda2 on Friday, 2nd January 2004 @ 04:57:18 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

The early evening breeze swam through the long golden grass,
The slowly sinking sun made the scene look peppered in brass.
The nearby river twinkled like a thousand shiny stars,
Our fishing nets lay idle next to frog spawn filled jars.
The birds began their evening chant as I lay silent and still in the corn,
The feet of searchers thudding nearby, small sandals leave buttercups torn.
I close my eyes and begin to doze, not bothered if I am found,
It'll soon be time to leave this paradise as we'll be homeward bound.
The friends call out my name as they open all the jars,
And carefully return the spawn to join the twinkling stars.
We promise to come back tomorrow for another wondrous day,
When our cheeks will glow even redder as we spend our time on play.

Wow, your descriptions formed a visual in my mind. I love recalling childhood. You did a wonderful job transferring your thoughts in your poem.
