Is this Love?

Contributed by jonteD on Wednesday, 31st December 2003 @ 03:44:14 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

It’s strange, so strange, what it does for you,
Strong men quake, the meek just quiver,
The feeling of love turns all men to goo,
You can tell if he’s in love by the way he shivers.

To him she is like a magnet drawing him in,
He has no chance, she is perfect as far as he can see,
A typical man in love with a dumb ass grin,
These are the last moments he’ll ever be free.

He don’t need a hypnotist cos he’s already under,
Whatever she wants her new man will be there,
She came into his life like some crash of thunder,
As far as he’s concerned she’s going nowhere.

All of a sudden he’s being taken home indoors,
Out comes all the Sunday plates and silver service,
Could it be he has for the first time met his in-laws?
Seems not for long does she want to stay a Miss.

It’s been months since he had a laugh and a beer,
No drinks, just shopping for new suit and tie,
Nerves set in as the magic all white day draws near,
The girls hope it’s “I do”, the lads that it’s “Not I”.

Too late he realises it’s a trap, for maybe he’s doomed,
Couldn’t wait for wedding to get her into bed,
Second thoughts, should he walk away from this soon,
The answers obvious with a shotgun at your head.

jonteD, I thought your poem was very entertaining..... and... I'll bet those are the circumstances more often than not!
