I still cry

Contributed by sweet-poison on Wednesday, 31st December 2003 @ 07:37:11 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

An aged woman,
Withered by her years,
Complete with wrinkled features,
Upon her frowning brow.
Her eyes still the brightest blue,
With a diamond twinkle,
Though hunch backed and minature,
With an award winning smile,
Along with her slender fingers,
With the tenderest touch.
Heart and mind so open,
Still with a lust for life,
She always was a family person,
Loved by children and adults alike,
Her youthful spark still prominent,
A touchy feely character, So to speak,
Her husband, who passed before her,
Was indeed a lucky man,
To have received an undivided love,
From this angelic aged gem,
Up until his final rest.
I couldn't help but love her,
And the day she died I wept,
I still cry for you sometimes, Gran,
And in my heart forever,
Is where you'll always be.

On behalf of Grampa (me) and Nain (Welsh for grandma) thank you for this lovely poem. We have jusr enjoyed Christmas with the family and I don't doubt in due course we'll leave many of those feelings behined.

This is not a cause for sadness

Life is what you make it and can't last forever.
When the time comes we have to move over to make room for our grandchildren to grow and ehjoy.

But not just yet a while eh?
