Heroes Never Die

Contributed by Demon on Friday, 30th August 2002 @ 03:36:18 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I stood by your bedside day after day
I watched you sleeping in your bed
lying there in pain..
I'd never sing in front of you
the times you were alive
but did you know that when you slept
I'd sing to you and cry?
I ran my fingers through your hair
as I counted all the lines apon your face
I followed the lines from your eyes
and to your lips they traced..
A smile so golden and so pure
A smile which never ceased to brighten my day
A smile you continued
even after everything you endured.
I listened to you breathe as I held your hand
Such a fine man to leave this place..
I didnt seem to understand
I didnt seem to see the logic
in taking one man and killing a thousand
the thousand who loved him
the very same thousand who were here..
because of him.
Doesnt "HE" have enough angels
up there in that little pretty place?
to leave one like you on earth
for us to cherish & love
for us to all embrace?
Isn't "HE" the one who encourages love
and discourages greed?
Maybe it's just me
Maybe im the greedy one in need.
In need of something & someone
to keep me alive through life's trials
Life's heavy tasks and tribulations
that seem to spread for miles
but the day did come in April
and GOD did make his final call
along with that call he built up forces
defences,unbreakable walls.
Walls to our lives
and curtains to cover the windows to our souls
for we will never be the same
because it was around you dad..
that all good things evolved.

We lost you and yet we are all still here today
we are fighting on but still alive
You were and are my last and every thought
because Heroes never Die.

Heroes Never Die.

That was a very well written and beautiful, tribute that seemed to come from the heart and conveyed a small part of your pain through your words.
