November Skies
A. Paul
Meet me down alone by the water
Ready the boat, we push off at sunset
No regrets, hold on tight...
Just rest your eyes, breath in the night.
We’ll erase the bad, as much as we can
And set our souls free; until you see a better part of me.
As you sat watching waves roll on by,
You said you felt like you were losing it
And I said I’d been lost for so long.
The rain began to fall, glowing softly in the shade
And I knew, even time keeps her own secrets.
Whispers spread onto photographs as the angels singing out of tune, asked;
"Why aren’t you dancing?"
The hull of the boat, the ebb of the tide,
The rowing of the oars opened wide my eyes,
Your darkened eyes met mine so full of life and with an eager smile,
Your excitement flew.
On the back of a dove you sent me your love.
His wings whispered on...."I always hoped we’d grow this strong."
Somewhere in the lake you had found your peace
Deep within the waters, amongst the coral and leaves
You rested your body close to mine
Letting the boat take us, any place would be fine
Where you and I can be alone, let the day be done, let our eyes be closed
And may the dove take flight- across the November sky
Dipping his wings into the star-filled night
