who m i

Topic: dedicatedpoems

who m i?
a baby midst the waves of innocence
a girl for attention who craves
a wife confused
a mother depleted
or a woman entrapped untapped

respect within me
made everyone feel respected around
love within me
left everyone feel loved around
warmth within me
made people feel cosy within
strength within me
strengthened the bonds of the kin

then y was it
that so many times I felt weakened
by the very virtues I carried and felt burdened

I was made to respect those
Who never deserved my reverence
I loved them
Who never knew what love meant
The warmth I exuded
Left me eluded
Strength I was left no more with
Snatched by my own kin n kith

I surpassed all boundaries
To let others be
What they wanted to b
Then y when I raised my head
All I was made to do
Was to bow

To procreate I was given the powers
But they forced me to become just a woman
Before I could even flower
I was tattered
I was battered
I was made a deity
At whose altar they sacrificed me
Saying it was the wish of the almighty

No more will I be smothered
Iam no vagabond
I will not be abandoned
I need no dependence

I will stumble , I will fall
And like a phoenix
I will rise and emerge from my fall.
