MY GRANDMA'S GOD

Contributed by lovingcritters on Sunday, 28th December 2003 @ 01:24:11 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

No one will ever know how much I loved
my dear little Grandma White.....
no one, that is, except her God.
She was a teacher, and loved my constant
bombardment of questions, I was like an
"empty little urchin," her answers left me awed!

"Why is the sky so blue, Grandma?"
"Because that's the color of
God's eyes, Connie Sue."
I tried to "trip her up," "How do you know?
Did you ever see His eyes so blue?"
Oh, My No, no one can see God and still live!"
"Why Grandma, is He mean?"

"You close your eyes, and think of someone you
really love a lot! Now you take their hand.....and know they will hug you, and love you, and help you to stand, that's God.
They will guide you across a very busy street,
watching your every step, so a car
you will not meet."
"Does He ever hurt you, Grandma, or make you cry?"
"Why Connie He can't even lie, there is no bad
found in his heart or soul.
Kindness, loving goodness, joy, mercy, mildness, compassion, and self-control....

"When will I ever get to meet Him,
all my myself, I mean?
Will I see Him walking some night in my dream?"
"It takes a while to meet God, for you
must search for Him,
and when He knows you are looking,
He will let himself be found,"
"When I finally find Him Grandma, will He
be in Heaven, or down here on the ground?"
"Wherever you are, that's where He'll find you dear."

The years numbered many, and still I didn't know...
I loved the thought of Him, this Person God
of my Grandma's in limbo.
Her God or whatever, whomever, silently
seemed to be so near.
Safe feelings, comfortable, no fright, no fear.

Then I had a daughter, and I tucked her in one night.
"When I die Momma, where do I go?"
"I don't honestly know, but I'll find out....
so you won't have to be afraid also."

My husband and I were determined to
find Him somehow.
We wanted to give her honest answers
that was our vow.
We tore apart two University Libraries, and studied the Bible as a Book of Prophecy, not by-passing one.
Greek, Hebrew, Roman culture, dates,
numbers, factual sum

Creation or Evolution, took us many years....
At times we were overwhelmed with
His love, we shed tears.
His Awesome Universe, His Almighty Power,
Jusrtice, Love without fear.
He has not abandoned mankind...He is waiting so all can hear..
There will be a time for Him to answer the call of intervention.
If He does not soon, there will be no mankind
to even mention.
For Man will eventually destroy man....
factual, proof sound!

In our constant search for Him, we found his heart, which of course is the core of God Himself.
He created us and gave us His Heart
for ourselves.
Man took God's Heart, emptied out all
of His Goodness,.
Replacing it with Hatred, Meanness, Greed,
and every sort of badness.

My husband and I emptied our Hearts,
and replaced ours with those like His.....filling it with all of His Fine Loving Qualities deeply.
I've been cultivating them for over 40
years truthfully.
God's Heart has deep feelings, can be broken,
crushed, and terribly hurt!
But when at last I can say my heart is once again.... like His Heart....I have met my Grandma's God.....
He's The God of Comfort!

"That's my wish for the New Year
of 2004....let's all fill our hearts
with goodness and cultivate
love for our fellow man."
