Rain...its one of those funny things

Contributed by Euphoria on Friday, 30th August 2002 @ 11:42:13 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Turning all the dusty greens to velvet,
Singing its song as the heat,
In this help less earth fell asleep,
It came down in torrents and washed away the disbelief,
And every little being bathed itself to its relief,
But before it had arrived to cast its trance,
Let’s go back to the past and take a glance,
When the mighty lion in the sky,
Roared and scared the clouds away,
And tainted all hearts with dismay,
The beggar on the street, the merchant in the market…
And I too felt so alone,
He had promised to hold my hand all the way,
Immure my fears till night turns to day,
But by each passing hour, my protectiveness, my possessiveness…
Alas were getting the best of me!
And when the highways and the road signs negated my wishful thinking,
I dropped my baggage and my faith started sinking,
Putting two and two together seemed hard,
But to love and to write again seemed harder,
I was hurt as I was kicked out of shelter,
He had snatched away his light and his ardor,
I was a bit too hasty and completed the picture on my own,
“He doesn’t love me any more,” I said, “and He’s left me all alone”,
I stopped praying for a while, for I assumed He wouldn’t listen…
Not any more now,
I wanted to get mad, get angry with Him…but I just didn’t know how,
And one noon when the air was thick and I couldn’t breathe and was almost coming undone,
I felt like another frustrated rat in this rat race on the run,
I called out to His mighty castle and banged on His golden door,
“Give me a sign, for I’m still waiting, do you love me any more?”
And then the pearl and the diamond drops fell from the chests in the sky,
‘So He is still my secret friend’, I thought, and I thus began to cry,
So you see, ‘rain’, just four simple letters,
Like love, just four as in L-O-V-E,
One of those simple yet mighty things;
With all the joy that they can bring;
Seems eerie when you write it, when you say it,
You don’t feel it and soon forget it,
But it’s there in all the adversity,
To give you a break from reality,
That’s why I guess…
Rain…its one of those funny things.
