I listen intently to the sound of your breathing,
I imagine your chest heaving with every breath,
A cloud of warmth surrounding your body,
An aura of you surrounding my soul,
‘Tis strange that even as you sleep,
I feel I can speak,
To your wide awake subconscious,
Your breathing composed of a simple pattern,
Inhaling...exhaling,
Yet I’m mesmerized by this strange composition,
Sounding like waves,
Rolling in, rolling out,
‘Tis strange that even as you lie curled up,
In an innocent slumber,
I feel I am walking,
Hand in hand,
With your dreams,
Trying to understand the core of your existence,
‘Tis strange that even though your eyes are closed,
I can feel you caressing me,
With the hands of sight,
You are quiet, silently floating peacefully,
In dreamland perhaps with Peterpan,
Yet I feel your presence with me, within me,
Surrounding me, holding me, covering me,
Like a cloud,
Falling onto my body like the brilliant sun,
Travelling with me like the magnus seasons,
For all the reasons unknown to man,
Loving me, just loving me, loving my spirit,
Touching my heart with your fingers,
A rich exquisite wine,
The taste of which is the only taste I know,
Drunken, intoxicated, lost in you,
Like a dervish on an odyssey,
I have found you,
Yet upon my brilliant discovery,
I can only weep,
For the happiness I feel is tearing out through my skin,
Yet I am not able to tell you, not able to show you,
How much I love you,
I am able to love you but I weep,
For I’m not able to love you enough,
So now I sit here as you sleep,
To watch over you,
And perchance to tell you
Of how much I love you.
