I know that now he’s scared
And unfortunately, it’s all my fault
Love for me, he once dared
In his wounds, I am salt
I pray that with time and patience
He’ll open to me once more
I now know, from this day hence
To love me again, I will implore
I used to think hope was over-rated
Now without it, I just don’t want to live
How did I end up so jaded?
I’ve finally found another that loves to give
Are there really so few of us out there?
Why do we find those that can only take?
For themselves only, can they care
And our hearts, do they love to break
Now that we’ve found each other
I’m reluctant to ever let go
I hope his heart can recover
And together we can grow
