Today I woke up

I woke up with burning eyes and a streaked face
All I could do is wipe them away feeling so amazed
I didn’t know my tears could still rain
I started to scream like I was insane
I ran from the house in my pajamas and socks
Everywhere I looked all I seen were clocks
They all read Two thirty
I started clinging at my skin feeling so dirty
I realized I was still in a dream cause no one was there
I looked so atrocious with my matted hair
I sat down on a dew soaked lawn and stared into oblivious
I just wanted to know the answer to what had happened to us
A passerby knelt in front of me kissing my forehead giving me a star
He told me everything happens for a reason but hope is never very far
As I watched him climb into a cab of a semi truck
I looked in my hand and found a picture realizing this was luck
I let the memories swarm my head and take me home
I now know this is where I belong not here where all I do is roam
Its finally over, no more chasing a dream I will never find
No more trying to escape my own mind
Its here with you and the people I know love me
No more trying to change the way things will always be

A very profound conclusion. I'll be months thinking around it. But I cannot accept that "things" will not change.
I'm nearly 80 now and have lived through many changes. Things and people are very different now to when I was a boy
