Folded neatly in my drawer
Sleeps a woven sweater
Laying there a scarlet red
Inside it's oak lined home
Many years have come and gone
Since I last had this sweater on
Placed inside my pallid palms
The frowzled wrapping paper falls
With the bow placed in my hair
The twinkle swells within my eyes
Smells of evergreen fill the air
Scintillating lights hung all around
Pulled down over my frazzled hair
The static starts to twist and stare
Precious hands peek through open sleeves
Hand woven name pressed against my heart
Laughter and cheers heard all around
As a feast is served inside our home
Cherished children with open ears
Plump ol' Grandpa's history years
Joyful carolers sing of praise
Embers burn to keep us warm
Looking back I find myself
When times were all but childlike
I keep this woven treasured gift
And lock it's memories deep inside
The reason it was given I will always hold
Hidden underneathe the Christmas tree
Back in nineteen-eighty-three...
