BROKEN

Topic: SadPoetry

what do you do when you feel ashamed?
do you fly far away?
what do you say to hide the pain?
so they think you're okay?

whatever i am is never good enough
wherever i go i always get stuck
whatever i say seems to be a lie
'cause no one knows i'm broken inside.

how do you say the words that break you down?
how do you save yourself when you start to drown?
how do you hide from all the things that hurt you?
do you deny it all, though it's true?

what do you do when people turn away?
how do you make them hear all the things you need to say?
when there's no options left, what do you choose?
how do you compensate for all the things you lose?

but why fake it? why pretend?
you know it doesn't change anything

whatever i am is never good enough
whereever i go i always get stuck
whatever i say seems to be a lie
'cause no one knows i'm broken inside.

wow you caught me with this one for sure.
Im not sure of your age but I can tell you a short tale. After being married to a man who abused me on a regular basis for 14 years I finally left. I also left in an eightteen wheeler and I drove the country with my now husband for eight years. Im 35 years old and I had to rediscover the person who is me and its been a challenge. I do understand alot of what you have written in this poem.
Michelle
