THERE'S A MAN IN MY HEAD

Contributed by jaeann on Tuesday, 23rd December 2003 @ 07:55:40 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

There's a man in my head
and he laughs sometimes at me
I think he wishes me quite dead
while he's stealing my sanity.

There's a man in my head
and he's hammering so hard
traps me with the lies he's fed
his notches are my scars

There's a man in my head
and I'm so tired of him there
I wish he were gone instead
for he's never really cared.

There's a man in my head
but how do I get him out
I'd just as soon stay in bed
then give him any more clout.

There's a man in my head
and I warned him about the gun
he's never liked it when I've bled
he thinks I am no fun.

There's a man in my head
he's been there since day one
filling me with dread
because I need to run.

There's a man in my head
he makes me angry and sad
of all the things I crave in bed
all because of them and Dad.

There's a man in my head
that makes me see those things
in my mind behind the shed
and the pain that memories bring.

There's a man in my head
keeping me in the dark
surrounding me with the red
I see before the spark..

There's a man in my head
slowly tightening the noose
to me he has been wed
and he'll not ever let me loose.

There's a man in my head
gambling for my life
I'm left reeling from all he's said
as he makes me fondle the knife.

There's a man in my head
with no escape from anywhere
he clearly wishes me to be dead
and he's not known to play very fair.

This reminds me of a poem a girl I know wrote called Raising Cain. Your poem is great. I really like it.

I thought your poem was excellent. All sorts of interpretations could be found. It has a dark feel to it, mysterious, illusive but a good read...

Jaymee this is an excellent rendition!
I've always had a woman in my head.
My Mother was there for more than 50 years.
Dread was all she said....I finally had to learn not to listen to her....I trained my mind anything negative I threw as fast as I could.
She's still there at times....but I atleast found the way to rid my mind of her negative vice...when I hear her....I change her....and turn it to positive and make her nice!
Can be devastating...Don't let him remain.
I hadn't thought too much about this until I read your wonderful poem...You write such great poetry! I wouldn't miss one of them!
love you
ConSue
