Sad Day

LostLove

My eyes weary from a sleepless existence,
I wait for your call.
Paralyzed by my thoughts of you,
I sit motionless...breathing a silent breath.
My heart flutters in my chest.
My stomach is still in knots
From the day's events.
I think of you in her arms...
Passionately entwined
Or rocking you softly to sleep.
Tears escape my eyes
And cascade slowly down my face.
At this very moment I would give my life
To be her.
How I wish I could kiss your mouth
Or hold your beautiful face in my hands.
How I wish I could stare endlessly into
Your chocolate brown eyes
Or share the same breath of air.
Your flowers are still alive,
But your love for me has faded
Into the gap between us.
Love is a remedy for distance,
But ours sank before it even got the chance
To swim.
I think about what we could have had
And I am saddened.
The silence around me is overwhelming.
The phone fails to ring.
She is calling your name
You are asleep in her arms.
I am alone.
