THE OLD RED BARN

The old red barn is leaning....
toward the years of wear!
Ancient Old Oak companion,
branches extended, stare.....
An old man's body crumbles
and tilts ravaged years!
Both still standing, enduring,
neither sheds tears.
Inside is the warmth,
and renewal of each day,
Winds of Life, Winds of Weather,
Winds of aging.....
Vibrant energetic youthfulness
toward days of ailing!
The barn door has been torn where
it once hung straight.
The windows have shifted, reflections
of light seal the gate.
With dignity, and honor, justice
with principled truth.
Outside reveals age, the heart
inside, renewed youth.
Staying vigilant, awareness,
preparedness, no despair!
Striving to maintain it's ever
ready vigil of care.
Reviewing youthful, useful years
of sharing with gratitude.
Retiring now, memories surface
of all past good, conclude.
Not denying it's aged frame,
much value like an antique.
In sunshine's warmth it basks,
a wondrous life unique.

"Old Barns are Happy,
in their retirement."
*smiles*
"That's what they
told me."
