Im The Mistake

Contributed by sweet-poison on Monday, 22nd December 2003 @ 08:54:33 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Walking home today,
In the bitter cold winter,
I witnessed the tender touch,
Between parent and child,
I never experienced that,
Not from either of you.

What I did receive from you,
Were harsh words,
and unsupportive criticism,
You made me feel worthless,
You made my compassion fade,
I stopped believing because of you.

Should I of tried harder?
Were you ashamed of me?
I know I was the mistake,
Maybe I should of worked harder,
Maybe if I were more intelligent,
Or more talented,
You would be proud of me.

I apologise to you both,
For making you hate me,
Perhaps I could fix myself,
Would you prefer me to conform,
To the typical perfect child,
That I see everyday in the street?

I will, I promise, Do this for you,
I crave your parental love,
I will conform to your ideals,
It may not be too obvious,
But I love you both dearly,
I only wish you felt the same.

I am grabbing at kleenexes here. This touched me deeply and I just want to give you a big hug.
Everyone deserves to be loved and you should be loved unconditionally. If your parents don't love you its not you its them who has the problem...
I could just feel your pain and you did an amazing job writing this poem.

Isn't it strange children love their parents no matter what.
I have shared many of your feelings, but have long since moved on.
You dear one are not a Mistake---God doesn't make mistakes---He has purpose for you.
Thanks for writing and sharing this poem.
