Apathy Killed Again

Contributed by nightrider on Saturday, 20th December 2003 @ 03:30:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

sitting alone
sitting so still
stare at the wall
wish you were dead
look at that girl
look at her eyes
so bright and alive.
but look deeper inside
the pain is there
if you look
the tears are there
if you search.
she needs a friend
if you care
but there is no reason
to notice her pain.
you've got your own life
that's what she knows
she wants to help you
tell her all your problems
she'll hold them deep inside
keep them safe.
let you cry on her
let you vent on her
she cares
she knows your pain
she is always there.
but someday,
you will see
that she was hurting too
and maybe,
on that day
you will wish
that you bothered to look
deeper into her eyes.
that you had bothered to ask
that you had bothered to care.
she'll be dead and gone
her eyes so blank and glazed.
the bright crimson seeping out
her only true friend twinkling
innocently
in her hand.
he walked her to her peace
he held her hand all the way
he was the one who stroked her wrists,
and said it would be ok.
not you
not me
no one but a razorblade
was there in the end.
you let her down
you didn't care.
WHY NOT?
why didn't you bother to see?
why wasn't she good enough?
why is she gone...
why...

I'm kind of -speechless- here. A very dark, thought-provoking, heart-piercing write. Beautiful job.

Sometimes people are just too blind to see our pain.
Very well done
