Gabriel's Sadness

Contributed by norticus on Thursday, 18th December 2003 @ 01:13:01 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Oh the days I walked with men of fear
Predicted the one who would appear
I stood at the headboard as she prayed
I watched by the manger where he layed
and then I waited til thirty five
For the holy spirit to come alive
I held his hand to the gates of Hell
and back again and wished him well
The times were good, the people were glad
How I long for the times in which we had

Oh the looks I got while in the sepulchre
I said don't look so sad, don't be a sulker
The king has returned as he said he would
They left in a flash as they understood
And just like that I was gone
Back to Heaven to practice my song
Now the day I await will come
When again my Lord's will is done
And the sheep will rise unto their home
Until then I will weep and moan
You're servant I've been throughout history
yet there is no mention of Gabriel's misery.

To be the guardian of one so vague
Instructed to silently sit by His leg
While the others watch and even interract
I just guard lest some fool would attack
Truly Satan knew my pain
Yet he was cast out with the rain
And I wait with Him feining gladness
Forever in waiting is Gabriel's sadness.

This is very touching. Your rhythm and meter are just excellent.

Beautiful work, impressive.
