Gatorade

"Gatorade"
My brother, it's only 11:18
Why did you leave so early?
Your appointment isn't until midnight.
If only the doors would have been locked,
You would have been sent back home,
And we would still be able to laugh, together.
But everything that was once humour,
Is now a tear hitting my pillow night after night.
Your face has been in my head all day,
And as much as I want to remember you,
I want to forget this day ever happened.
I've marked it off my calendar,
As if it never existed.
The next time this day comes, and every time after, I will sleep the whole day out.
I'm tired of of pretending to be the one that can erase history, and bring you back,
So we can listen to Del again and laugh.
But I know you're listening to him somewhere else now, alone.
And you have my promise that one day, we can listen together, once more.
We will meet again, soon, but this time there will be no fear of departure.
But until then, just know that everyone is thinking about you,
'Cause it will never be the same without you.
