THE LEGEND OF LOVE

Contributed by sweetangeluk on Wednesday, 17th December 2003 @ 04:15:57 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

There is a legend that many have forgot, the tale of love and woe
For buried deep beneath the icy lake two lovers lay, love aglow
They were cast out, people drove them out of their town in shame
For the lady in question was pregnant and still bore her maiden name

So one tragic night they slipped away in a small boat the weather icy cold
They still had their love still had a future and a beautiful child not fools gold
Suddenly though the world turned upside down now they were in the water
They held each other before being pulled down all thoughts of a son or daughter

Like romio and Juliet their love was truly strong they had done nothing wrong
Yet most of the town people thought they did not belong same old century song
A love so passionate and enchanting cannot die amongst the Lilly's and weeds
What he wanted to bestow was in his pocket a ring and string of love beads

But legend has it their bodies still reside deep down in that haunted lake
They've been seen floating across the water their hearts no longer ache
Together they are for all eternity never again will they have to say goodbye
Heartfelt cries of their love so strong armour toujours love always - never dies

Love Angelxxxxx

This Is the best poem Ive read in a LONG time. The poem is so very sad, but it has such a great truth; true and real love will last and lives forever.

What a great story. You must be a lover of the classics I am. I have not Romeo and Juliet in a while but this was a good second.
