me... less one shovel, in need of the road away from home

Lifepoems

thumb stuck out as i walk
lactic acid building
outstretched over tar
grit stuck between
teeth that are
grinding against each other
eyes feeling droopy,
car lights fly by,
headlights make me hopeful,
tailights, kill those hopes,
with their red globes,
burning into,
looks like they are evil eyes,
constantly laughing
and i am running,
taking myself as faraway,
as these legs will take me,
blood forms under my feet..
if they whittle away to stumps,
would i keep running?
or just walk on bloody stumps?
i'm not stopping...
not till i'm gone,
left or right?
will it matter?
do choices affect us?
some more than others?
will this one?
how would i know?
what if i go left?
and get hit by a truck?
what if i go right?
and get a lift to the next town...
what if i just stop and start digging?
would i uncover buried treasure?
uncover buried bodies?
uncover a map?
or just dig my way to china?
split by indecision...
if only i had a shovel...

Thank you for sharing this poem. You know I think some of the same types of thoughts sometimes. Lots of why's and what if's and I call it pondering. I figure if I never find the answers at least I thought of the questions. This was really nice to read...
