My Inner Funeral

Contributed by ShadowDaughter on Tuesday, 16th December 2003 @ 10:05:19 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

scratched my wrist
with a poisonous thorn
(from a rose,
just to show you I care)
plunged in my quill
left a bloody goodbye
met Death's stony gaze
stare for stare

tears of flame
ran down my face
burning a path
as flames do
bringing relief
as I lay down to die
relief from thin
thought-strands of you.

and as the blood
ran down my arm
twining slow
rivers of red
I gathered my strength
and I opened my mouth
and I whispered
"guess what, world, I'm dead."

* * * * *

I sighed with relief
when I'd finished the task
though I still did not feel
quite, well-- whole
when I'd buried her body,
it took me a while
to realize
I'd buried my soul.

twining slow
what a unique line totally captured my frail attention... I love this I was drawn into the poem and felt as if I was scratching my wrist with a poisonous thorn. Very deep.

I felt every single letter of this incredible poem. The imagery, the emotion, the darkness all congregating into a masterpiece. I'll remember this for a long time to come.

Truly,
-V.S.

Oh yeah, I loved the title, too.

seemed like something you would read in a book of well-known poets. by now you know that that isn't mechanical flattery or an ego-feeding compliment. "unasked for yet pleasing morsels...." in all it's glory. i won't waste any more or your time with futile praise. just know that if i actually left a comment, it touched me deeply. and i'm not even going to call the cops.

that was breathtaking, everything about it was perfect, the r&r the layout, the lightness of the tone but the strength of the words.

"thin thought-strands of you"

amazing! you both inspiring and envy inducing but either way you are increadibly talented.
