A FRIENDS LIFE

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

A phone call yesterday made me cry so many tears
A friend of mine has cancer it confirmed all my fears
Life is so unfair her new happiness now snatched away
Doctors left it to late, so now its their judgement day

25 years ago her child was born they adored him so
They couldn't have been happier their love was aglow
A sister in charge, husband a doctor well respected
Everything she could have wanted then comes the unexpected

The child grew ill they were looking for all the tell tale signs
Blamed herself she should have read between the lines
Her son rushed into intensive care meningitis was diagnosed
A vigil by his bedside hail Mary's and prayers to the holy ghost

Her prayers were not to be answered that day he died
God decided to take him he needed him on the other side
Mother alone her baby never to hold, drink now her comfort
A glass now to hold, refilled whenever she felt discomfort

Lost her job her husband and her home all in a year
Now all she could think of was getting love from a beer
Fifteen years later detoxed stayed away from the drink
After hallucinations and seeing the garden was pink

Reapplied for her old position as sister in charge
Said she was a risk after a dishonourable discharge
Picked up the pieces of her crushed and bruised heart
In the memory of her son he was an important part

Got her life back on course got through the days
Some days were hell like going through a haze
New job new life worked her way up the ladder
Then her dad died she coped how much sadder

Her mother died not long after they say of a broken heart
Antidepressants to blot out her feelings torn apart
Now she has been delivered the final blow in her life
The words cancer cut deep in her like a surgical knife

What words do you convey to someone who is terminally ill
No more chemo four is all she could take now a morphine pill
To take away the pain when its bad to ease the torment
She says there is no future, just memories and the present

I am waiting for a miracle to heal my friends disease
I pray for some help in curing her god I cry please
I want to ask the doctors why no tests were ever done
This is my friend a person she was a mother who lost her son

I love you my friend

Love
xxAngelxx
