little left to fathom here
among the sharp rocks of despair
blackened burned out design
this heart once forged
with you its centerpiece
stumbled off saying
you had nothing to give
and me a beggar
my tin cup rusted out
what a handsome pair we make
tattered by ill fated attempts
to climb the highest mountain peaks
without the benefit of knowing how
we tumbled down and fell
into something close to hell
where nothing seems to satisfy
the hunger felt so deep inside
pulling feathers from our a***s
i doubt you see the humor there
as we sink in blackened pit
never to see the sun and sky
to taste the rain upon our lips
curled up in heaps of pain
we... are but a fading memory

Dear Mer.....I hope you do make these a series, now that I know they are not about you....and yet, I've known so many people that they could be. I loved your fading memory....great write Mer, as always, and profound, as one can be found!
