The cold winter wind
Blowed across my yard
As I walked from the mailbox
Where I picked up your card.
My cold fingers trembled
As I read what was inside
And the wind froze my tears
In my eyes as I cried
"I wish you Merry Christmas,
Great joy and happiness"
"May you always be cheerful,
And always be blessed"
"I go to church every Sunday,
I sit in the front pew"
"And I pray to the good Lord
To always watch over you"
"I helped make cookies and candy,
But I felt not much cheer"
"There was no laughing that day,
Because you were not here"
"Our Christmas tree is pretty,
But its just not the same"
"Like it was last year
When we stood by it and sang"
"Daddy this year I ask Santa
Not for what I want, but what I need"
"For you and mommie to get back together
So we can be a family of three"
How do you explain
To a little girl thats four
That her mommie and daddy
Dont love each other any more?
