My critter dogs were snoozing, their noon day nap.
When our silence was ruined by a terrible zap!
I jumped up from my computer, and ran
stumbling to the front door!
What I saw there was too much, I fainted
to the floor!
Regaining my consciousness, I reached
for my "Irish Creme!"
A loud rap at my door, I knew, this was no dream!
My critters were barking, my head seemed to whirl.
My Kerchief grabbed, my Stetson replaced.
I stood, a Wyoming Cowgirl!
I opened the door, and could still see
the monstrous sight!
One Mountain Pine clipped, and leaning to the right!
Tremendous blow by flying Jeep,
or maybe a sleigh?
All of this destruction and it isn't even noon-day
"How did you get over my fence I asked
this stranger?"
"Wasn't easy lady, flying a sleigh without
any reindeer!
I suppose you could say, I contantly prayed,
and flew by the seat of my pants to get here!"
I then yelled, "Well Fella whomever you are.....
you get back on your contraption,
and by the seat of your pants....fly away!!"
A tear I saw drop, from his fat little face so near.
Then he related, "I'm Santa dear, and I've lost
all my reindeer!"
There was no moon, just dirty old worn out snow,
My heart was melted by his plight,
I'd lost my "Gusto!"
"Well Santa, for goodness sake what happened?"
"Rudolph's persecution on this day, was all
that he could take, poking fun and laughing at
his nose.....never stays away, he dysfuntioned!~
He plugged them all soundly, dead straight away!
I need your dogs, "Lovingcritters,"
to guide my sleigh!"
"But, Santa, you can't use my critters 6, they're dogs.
Dogs can't fly Santa, just like you and I,
grounded, nixed!
Santa then says,"But that is unfounded, for
reindeer cannot fly either!"
I'll teach them, they have tails, they can fly further.
With the help of his elves, we sewed
their costumes for hours!
Antlers, and hoofs, holes for their tails,
they were ours!
Now Toastie girl is a hunter....better let her
take the lead.
Tooney is a barker, and without her barking,
slow airspeed.
Bootie is big and can take up the slack,
she's also very kind.
Little Tiny is bashful, and very refined.
Picy dog is ornery, can catch anything that
falls, especially balls!
Poor little Winnie better be put in the back,
to track.
"Now Santa I want you to know, they are just dogs!
so please treat them like so, and try to remember,
they have to piddle as they go!"
The tears had dried, and in his eyes I saw a twinkle!
I heard him say, "Are you critters ready to
take off now?"
I closed my eyes with one high brow,
I couldn't look...
I held my breath, and heard "Chow!Chow!Chow!"
With that I peeked, and thought I would weep...
For they flew high, and straight like a Jet's upsweep!
I gazed as I saw them fly by so dangerously!!
Toastie was leading, Tooney was barking.
Winnie was seated on Santa's lap as Picy dog
filled in for her gap!
Bootie was having the time of her life....
she was flying at last!
Then I heard Santa exclaim,
"Twil be a "Doggone" good Holiday Season
this year, from Reindeer to dogs, what a contrast!"
My last thoughts as I saw them disappear...
"You'd better let them piddle, Santa,
remember you're bringing up the rear!"

"Finally, I found a good
job for my critters 6!
If you should see
any flying dogs, you'll
know they are mine!"
*giggles*

The critters' lady has finally made the critters
earn some dough for their biscuits
----------------------------------------------------------
I saw the dogs,
Toasty worked mostly
Tooney flew loony
Bootie was snooty
Picy was nicey
Winnie sounds tinny
Tiny wasn't invited..
Hurrah for the critters..they justified their existance |
