I Am Consumed

My life is but flesh on a shadow,
I wait, and mourn for the light.
My mind floats on early morning mist
and settles on the flower only to find it dead.
I am consumed.
The life of the apple is in the nectar,
flowing through its flesh full and sweet.
But the sweet nectar of my apple
is in the belly of the worm.
I am consumed.
You, that I love, have raped my heart.
I bleed no more. No more!
The candle of my soul you have blown out,
and now the flesh rots off my shadow.
I am consumed.
