Bits and Pieces

Contributed by maryetta on Friday, 12th December 2003 @ 10:37:33 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

oh God help me please she doesnt understand
i need to talk but alzheimers is in control
she doesnt feel my words anymore
if she cant hear me who can theyre all deaf
she only hears me in bits and pieces

i try to hold on but the days just drag
i feel so alone and helpless mommas gone
her body stays for me to care about
the mind has left to points unknown
she only hears me in bits and pieces

all day we repeat the same over and over
sometimes she will just stand and stare
othertimes in and out she knows she doesnt
i dont know where to turn she cant help
she only hears me in bits and pieces

i know im not alone they have the same as i
we dont have the time to talk to each other
the world passes us by we fall deeper in our pit
is there any salvage for those who remain
she only hears me in bits and pieces

dear Maryetta, this is a heart breaking poem..
a great write also..
one small advice.. you may change your fore word some times to avoid monotony..some times you may quote a powerful line from your poem also as your foreword to the poem.
you have a good talent of expression..your poems have to get some more reads.
dear, you need not thank me again for my comment ..I shall not miss your poems as they are very much heart-touching.

This just touches my heart. I think its great that you make others aware of Alzheimers.
