slipped though my fingers
wine into water
and time rushes by
like a sudden storm
leaving me vanquished
on a deserted shore
where i am a foreigner
i don't know the language
tongue tied and drunk
i sit on his lap
hoping he'll love me
buy me some dinner
take me home to his room
let me sleep until morning
before he puts me out on the street
everything i was is gone
in one breath i lost it
spoke in anger and haste
now free to wander
to my heart's content
looking for passion
for mystery, romance
i drink to the dreamers
the drunks and the schemers
godforsaken, heartbroken
what was i thinking
