Welsh Glory

Contributed by woody on Wednesday, 28th August 2002 @ 12:40:54 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Over the border from England to Wales,
The clickety-clack of the wheels on the rails,
Gathering speed, the view flashes by,
From my window seat, such spleandour I spy.

Faster we go, into valleys so deep,
Scattered with cottages, surrounded by sheep,
A wealth of nature, that's yours for free,
Open your eyes, look hard and see.

Foxes, badgers, herons and doves,
This is the country the Welshman loves,
Mileposts flash by in a blur of yellow,
Fields of corn, golden and mellow.

Babbling brooks join rivers in flood,
Like veins in an artery, filled with blood,
Trees of all types go speeding by,
Already they've passed in a wink of an eye.

Salmon pink sunsets, over mountains so high,
The last rays of sunlight disappear with the sky,
Rain clouds move in, like ships without sails,
This is the glory, the beauty of Wales.

Nice work. Never been to Wallis myself, as I'm thoroughly content with Scotland, which i'm sure more people agree is a prettier country ;op. J/k.
