drugs are ruining you

Topic: DarkPoetry

you were already shrivelled and dead before we met
i tried to save your selfless soul
but the drugs in your hand you clutched
too tight was your hold
so now i prepare to go to their funeral
dressed in black
thinking of the good times when you were conscious we had
it's such a waste
but i never really knew you
i knew the drugs
and now you're dead
i never will

now you are haunting me
through someone else
you are but the drugs are not dead
another good friend lying on the floor
already had one kick begging for more
it's just the early days
and yet again my friend i'm determined to save
you have more of a chance than the guy before
please don't let me watch whlist you slam the door
don't let me see your coffin too...

give up the drugs before they give up you

I deal with this every day at work. Really hits home for me.
