medals and trophies

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

hearing about what you did
i never thought there could be anything harder
my ear felt soiled
i wanted to amputate it before the words were connected to thoughts
and they reached my brain
i dont want to have to cope with this
being used to gazing into your soul and seeing flickering images
of myself is gone
will my thoughts turn to dark ones?
will our connection be severeed?
i've tried putting my feelings to words
but nothing can describe this, even worse is the comparison to
what i'm feeling now, how different it is after what you did...
was he good, was he worth it, when was it, when should it be worth it?
was he a trophy? was he a medal? what was i? have i changed?
is this why? have i just been a phase or game?
to be changed as you pleased? are you pleased?
when my thoughts drift to you now, my fists clench so hard
i am sure my knuckles will break, i thought we'd never break...
is this it? are we gone?
i ask you again... was he a trophy? was he a medal?
a medal hangs around you neck when you wish to wear it...
a trophy you get presented with an d then collects dust on a shelf...
to be shown off to friends as something acheived...
was he something you dreamed of, was he something you wanted to cherish?
did he cherish you? was it worth being an infedelity?
another story for me to tell my friends about when i need some sympathy
so now i'll just sit back and collect dust as i watch you grow...
you grew old of me, will you grow old of him?
was i worth being inscribed with my name on a plaque
that doesn't glisten at the sight of light anymore?
no point trying to sleep, because i dont want to see
if my dreams will be haunted by you...
