My Wall

Contributed by ToriVeigh on Wednesday, 10th December 2003 @ 07:16:17 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

How could one man
Effect me so profoundly?
When I’ve done all I can
To build the walls around me?

In this, the longest week past
I’ve traveled so far
From the depths of hell so vast
To soaring among the stars

With each of his poems
My heart finds a little hope
My smile now returns
And I feel I could float

Pieces of my wall have crumbled
And fissures are slowly creeping
Although on the pieces I’ve stumbled,
Through the cracks, delight is now seeping

How surprising to find
That my means of protection
While hidden safely behind
Also prevented affection

I am now excited to see
With each stones loosening
Every new possibility
And my soul’s releasing

Defense mechanisms are there to protect us. To let them down would mean to let someone in and it is easier to keep them up, then to take a chance because no one knows what lies ahead. I loved this poem and what you said is so very true.

You have a gift for words...

Kie

It's amazing how things can turn around in a day when one steps back and looks at the big picture. Looking forward to Cancun with a beautiful red head. :-)

I really think that letting some one behind your walls has a lot to do with trust, but then some times there is no choice, they just step right through them....
Great Write
