Brutality inflicted upon the innocent,
electrocution, isolation,
torture, suffocation,
bodies torn apart
from head to toe.
Sea creatures, land creatures,
trapped and killed,
boiled and beaten,
for a snack,
for fun.
Their lives carry on
in dark, dreary stalls,
cowering in fear,
confined,
facing a disgusting hell.
Fear, that wretched feeling,
resides in humans,
and in ducks, cows,
pigs, cats,
fish.
To be born and raised
to die,
to be slaughtered
and served on a plate,
is a miserable life, indeed.
Mothers, fathers, babies,
animals are nearly human,
animals all
live, grow, think,
and feel.
Feelings of the innocent
must include,
pain and fear,
hopelessness and despair,
a lack of comprehension.
Love and comfort
are offered to children
when troubled with fear,
but animals of the world
are forced to suffer.
Surely, all they desire,
that same love-
not cruel experiments
or beatings on farms-
just warmth and comfort.
Animals cannot speak,
we must speak for them,
when we stay silent,
millions more suffer and die,
never knowing love.
