A Creed to Live By

Contributed by norm on Monday, 8th December 2003 @ 10:05:01 AM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

The alphabet is handy when you wish to make a word,
The letters, they are needed no matter how the word's absurd,
The sequence of the letters make a pattern for the sound,
You add it all together, you've a word that's neatly bound.

Life has certain elements that emulate the word,
Compassion and happiness are two for us to gird,
Generosity for our brothers and our sisters, those around,
Foregiveness for each person on this earth who can be found.

If you live a life of modesty and do not grab the last,
If you leave a little something for the present, future, past,
The world will spin for ages and then all will be in place,
And the furure generations will have an earth that they can face.

Wow Norm this is a great and teaching poem
for everyone at this poem site's home
I love the part about being modest, honest, and generous too! Just think what a wonderful world we could live in if everyone would apply just those two!
I really enjoyed the parallel meaning here Norm..makes your poem have depth and subtance...something to be taught and remembered for generations to come..a poet has spoken, a job well done!
