MAYBE MINE

Maybe mine is
As segregated ideals
Upon journeys with solvents
To clean away edges
Roughened
Maybe mine is
Of trickling cohesiveness
That slowly dawns
Into flowing rivers
Eroding knowledge.
Maybe mine is
Of sprinkling pebbles
That bruise temples
And create there an ache
Unrelenting.
Maybe mine is
The chips of stone gathering
In little piles of dusty lime
Coating fingers roughly,
Blinding eyes.
Maybe mine is
But of words written
In untidy, scrawling lines
On crumpled pieces of paper
Coffee ring lined.
Some day perhaps
As maybe mine is answered
I’ll find it easy to complete
And renew its vigor
For time along.
Maybe mine is
A gentle lip quiver
As touched with love
And tenderness
By the lips that are mine.
