Paid to Hate

He parked his car at a restaurant about eleven at night,
It was dark and windy, and so very cold outside,
A gang of five or more came by and wanted to start a fight,
He was tough but smart, and to not start a fight he tried.
But they were paid to go after him right from the start,
So as they came closer, spitting words and abuse,
Nothing that he was going to say would change their heart,
They were like a bull in a show that had just been let loose.
So with a punch to his face and a blow to the stomach the fight had begun,
They crowded around him and kicked his keys to the ground,
He tried to fight back for his life, but they were at least five and he was only one,
They punched and beat the crap out of him, and no one heard a sound.
His blood pooled on the gravel and he got a few good punches in,
You could clearly hear a snap from his body and then a painful moan,
Every failed attempt to redeem himself made the gang grin,
The gang had no mercy, they were after another snap of a bone.
Finally something disturbed them and they all scattered,
But still no one found him lying helplessly on the dark cold floor,
Nearly dead he was lying there bruised, bloody and battered,
He barely looked human, just smashed up human gore.
I am just so thankful that he is still here with me today,
I would never forgive them if they took his life which they were probably trying to do,
And tears spill form my eyes when I heard what happened, when I saw him that way,
I don’t know if I can forgive them, I don’t think I can let myself, I don’t think I want to.

I'm sorry to read about what happened to your friend. I don't blame you for not wanting to forgive them. I sure hope your friend will be alright. The rhyming in your poem is amazing. |

I hope he makes it. Unfortunately for them I am sure they did let him live. With many no matter how good natured that is a mistake. 'Cause when they finally heal they will still be mad and looking to catch each one alone. I liked the write you did it well. |

What was done to him was wrong, plain and simple. Horrific and painful to read. I hope he will be okay.

I actually thought I had commented on this one, but merf, anyway. I can sorta relate to this. A little while ago my sister was assaulted by another girl at a party, then when my sister was lying on the ground, this other girls boyfriend kicked the s-hit out of her. They all held back my sisters boyfriend so there was nothing he could do. She had a bottle thrown at her head, and the doctor later said, if the cut from the bottle had of been a centremetre lower, my sister would of died.
Anyway, your friend is lucky to have someone like you beside him. I hope he is allright. And you don't have to forgive them, I will never forgive the people who hurt my sister, never. |
