Sunken Treasure

Contributed by juliETTE on Thursday, 4th December 2003 @ 07:47:22 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

Somewhere deep beneath the Sea of Regret
Lies an ever poignant mystery,
A mound of all I should have done
Softly calling out to me.
It gets harder to resist the urge
To swim down and investigate.
If I can brave the lull of this tide
Maybe I would understand my fate.
Sliding softly through this pale white sand
All the passions buried in my chest,
Blow back with the force of the wind
I have always used to help me forget.
If I pull you from that resting place
Can my heart withstand the rush?
How am I supposed to walk away,
From what this storm’s stirred up in us?
I realize that I am not ready yet,
To leave the safety of this shore.
Long ago I left you floating at bay
And I stand behind my choice.
I guess it’s time for me to move on,
Amidst this mix of pain and pleasure-
You are no longer mine to discover
Only forever, my sunken treasure.

You stated that you wanted us to feel free to giving you any suggestions.

My suggestion is...DO NOT CHANGE OR ADD A THING. This is a very beautiful poem. A job very well done, I look forward to reading more.
