Flag

Contributed by blackteardrops on Tuesday, 2nd December 2003 @ 07:13:20 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I slip outside.
under the darkening sky, I twirl my flag.
The graceful silk gently caresses me.
The pole moves easily in my hands.
Everything is calm and quiet.
Then my true emotions begin to take over.
The mask falls away as the flag spins faster and faster.
Thoughts race across my mind.
Will she live to see tomorrow?
Will I soon be attending a friend's funeral?
Is there anything I can do to help?
Is there any hope?
Faster. Faster.
I pour all my anger and fear into the flag.
Faster. Faster.
What was once a flag is now a swirling maelstrom of madness.
I cannot stop it.
Suddenly, the pole collides with the side of my head.
Everything comes to a sudden halt.
I collapse to the ground, biting back the sobs that threaten to burst from my lips.

Will this ever end?

this was odd, but I liked it. I liked the image of the flag. Very well written.
