Atop the Hilltop

Contributed by RealmX on Monday, 1st December 2003 @ 08:16:52 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Atop this hill I sit
The wind rippling through my clothes
Gently bristling the blades of grass
A constant tapestry of moving thread

Peace comes over me
Could it be this breeze?
Could it be nature?
Or knowing that I don't have to be anywhere?

Planes fly over me
I'm waiting for one to land...
Where's my plane at?
Have it wait for me...I'm not ready to leave yet

This wind is now stabbing me
Breaking me
My skin is numbing over
Cold

Oh, but if I was but a bird
So I could see it like they do
Fly free, behind by nothing
Where could I go?

I'd see this whole world...
Innocent and unabated
See this hilltop
Where I sit, on this calm autumnal day
