the lost romantic

Contributed by Merry on Sunday, 30th November 2003 @ 04:48:27 PM in AEST
Topic: InternetLove

what was it, i was looking for
a compliment
a lover on the internet
some stranger to make
me feel more important
than i really am?
where was i going?
nowhere fast
i assume i must be lost
without a clue
why i do what i do
forgetting to pay attention
to what is right in front of me
losing all concept of reality
creating chaos in place of peace
and longing for things that don't exist
what kind of game is this?
anxious players keep moving
across the board
revolving doors swing shut
as they come and go
losing faith in the darkness
where promises melt
leaving rings on the table
what was i thinking?
the grass is greener over there
or there, or maybe even there
even i know better than that
in my warped romantic thinking
there can be so many heroes
so many fantasies spun
in a web of self deceit
wrapping me in a warm lie
to keep me company
when i cannot sleep
what good is this?
foolishness to me
fantasy or deception
what difference does it make?
it leads to nothing in the end
but morose fascination
and a sadness that encompasses
my heart with wishes
for things that might have been

How strange that we should write anout the same thing at the same time.

However yours is a little more comprehensive and fearfull than mine.
It encompasses a wider horizon.

Mine was called Cyberheaven if you want to make a comparison.

dearest merry, been there, done that, got the t-shirt lol, the funny thing for me though is that the man i love who loves me true is indeed from another country and we met online 5 years ago, was special enough to follow through with and im happy we have, its so wonderful to actually get a longly waited for real life kiss *sigh* heh, generally speaking upon the state of our new cyber world though your poem is right on and carries sooo much truth:) hugs n' love nessa
