A BIG MISTAKE

Contributed by AliB on Saturday, 29th November 2003 @ 07:03:07 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

You were supposed to be helping me
Or that was the idea
But you've given me more problems
That don't need to be here
AllI needed was space
To calm down, to reassess
To pull myself together
To get out of this mess
I thought you could guide him
Re-introduce some respect
Teach him some values
That he chose to forget
But instead you've confused things
Bought him clothes,gave him money
Allowed him to go places
That you knew I wouldn't agree
You say that you're treating him
Like one of your own
But where were you before now
When I felt so alone
We've been going through hard times
For such a long time
Why weren't you interested then
Did you think we were fine
When I always looked sad
And tired and drawn
Did you think I was coping
When I was crying till dawn
Did you think I was happy
When you saw me looking rough
Did you think,she'll survive
If she doesn't then tough
Then finally you realised
There was something you could do
You were full of good intentions
I didn't know this is what you would do
You're showing him how wonderful
Life can really be
If you're false and live in a dream world
And got lots of spare money
So thanks for kinda trying
But I wish I hadn't agreed
'Cause there's bound to be more trouble ahead
Thanks mainly to your good deed

Oh yes...although I do not have a son or anything, but people have offered to help before in my life and they just made it worse for the parent because they see how much more this person supposedly cares because there is no rules and think that the parents don't love them cause they are punishing them...but that is not true is it. I understand what you are talking about, although I have never been in that situation, so all I can do is wish you all the best. So all the best with this problem and I hope all turns out well. Hang in there, this poem spoke truth and pain to me, anguish, anxiety and frustration. It was a very good write.

Emma.
