The Perfect Tear

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Friday, 28th November 2003 @ 04:26:17 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

She is crying, I ask her
My sweetheart, what is wrong ?
I watch the steady trickle of tears
Fall into lines on her pretty face

I am crying, because......she turns and looks away
Are you hurt, feeling some pain ?
The answer calmly whispered, no
Then what, whatever could this be ?

I am crying, because......her body shakes
Are you sad, is that the cause?
Again in the silence, no,her answer freed
Eyes fixed to the ground, not looking at me

I am crying, because......
Someone has been cruel, thrown harsh words against you ?
As though enchanted still the same, no
Raising her glance upwards, slowly she speaks

I am crying, because.....
A half smile appears, because......
I wait with beating heart
Anticipation of what she is longing to say

I am crying because
Of something you told me
Earlier, the words you spoke
I recalled them, a moment ago, so vividly

I'm sorry I didnt mean, shh she says
Remember you turned to me in this mornings first light?
I'm crying because as you gently kissed my cheek
You said, simply, I love you.

Gone the worry of wondering
The fear of words that might not please
Replaced by sweetness and harmony
As I gaze at the Perfect Tear
