I HAD A CHILD, BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL,
I HAD A CHILD OFTEN TEARFUL.
I HAD A CHILD WO HAD LOTS TO GIVE,
I HAD A CHILD I WAS PROUD TO BE WITH.
I HAD A CHILD I USED TO TUCK UP IN BED,
I HAD A CHILD I WILL NEVER SEE WED.
I HAD A CHILD, YOU HAD A DRINK,
YOU DROVE YOUR CAR, YOU DIDN'T THINK.
I HAD A CHILD I LOVED AND CHERISHED,
YOU HAD TO DRINK AND NOW SHE'S PERISHED.
YOU SERVED YOUR TIME, NOW BACK WITH YOUR WIFE.
I AM ALONE NOW, SENTENCED FOR LIFE.

| I truthfully cried when I read this. I know your pain. My younger sister (my best friend) was killed in a car accident. The driver was drunk as well as high on drugs. My heart never seems to stop aching for her. So sorry you had to endure something so painful. This poem definately touched my heart... |
