This chapter now is over

Contributed by irshprnss on Tuesday, 25th November 2003 @ 06:32:06 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I wasn’t ready to close the book
Though the bookmark was gone
Looking at the pictures
In the margin I had drawn
Thinking it was mine forever
I’d laid my dreams upon
Please open again my book
For my dreams until are gone

Who was it that wrote this chapter
The one who wrote you out
Who decided to change the page
Without knowing what it’s about
The paragraph wasn’t over
Ask if in doubt
Give me yesterdays chapter
I never wanted out

I’m left with nothing new to read
Re reading only the past
Trying to read between the lines
Understand what doesn’t last
Trying to slow down the verse
With everything I had
Give me back the ability to read
Don’t leave me in the past

The chapter now is over
The verses now gone
Faded pictures in the margin
Lost dreams laid upon
I know I can’t change it
There is no way out
Learning to live with change
Is what the books about
Nothing left for me to read
Why read what will not last
Just give me the book on yesterday
And let me live in the past
