Misplaced

Contributed by Vitreous_Soul on Tuesday, 25th November 2003 @ 02:34:46 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Do you ever feel like everything's wrong
Or that the world is a disharmonic song
Do you ever feel you need be too strong
To drop into place and to belong

Love is destined for those filled with hate
Wrong follows wrong and leaves a clean slate
Only through destruction will pain you create
Only with truth will you alienate

Do you ever feel like the wolf among sheep
Or that you are far too tired to sleep
Have you ever felt like a crow among doves
Or that you are the one that solitude loves

I wish to see through a stranger's face
Just how misplaced
I am within the human race

Have you ever felt that nothing is real
Or that you are no more than a fifth wheel
Can't you see that the dirt on your burial plot
Is more or less just an afterthought

Can't you see that your effort is a waste
And that good intentions are always misplaced
It's obvious that in life you are dead
That you possess the touch that turns gold into lead

How can one be in plain sight but lost
In this world of frost
Upon your tombstone the mark of failure embossed

Beautiful and hopeless. Echoes feelings I've always kept to myself.
"Do you ever feel like the wolf among sheep
Or that you are far too tired to sleep
Have you ever felt like a crow among doves
Or that you are the one that solitude loves"

I love that stanza. And I have, and perhaps do, feel that way. Far, far too often. Glad that you could voice what at least I couldn't; this is more beautiful than anything I could have done.

Keep writing,
-Eve.
