Virus Strain

Contributed by bobotheclown on Monday, 26th August 2002 @ 07:30:24 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

There's a new virus strain
In your system
Potent and lethal
It messes with your mind
Like some vial substance

You want to scream,
But only a laugh emerges
Vain, silly, and conceited
Putting forth a farce
That everything is fine

Now you can feel it
Growing, twisting, morphing,
Germinating
From a small tidal pool
Into, a monstrous, catacalysmic
Tidal wave
Which tears apart your insides
Organs become useless and dysfunctional

Your skin peels away
Rotten and useless
Every pore infected
With yellowish crap
Stinking and oozing
It pushes out
Covering your body with its grime

Now your alone
Curled up in the middle of your room
Like a broken ragdoll
Arms splayed out
Searching for comfort, for stability,
For help, or for anything really

There's a smile on your face,
But inside everything is awry
Turned to much cancerous and worthless
Your friends laugh along
With your empty jokes
Lacking an X-Ray machine
How terrible, yet sweet
They can't see through your jokes,
But slowly your dying
Eyes plaintive and searching
For someone you can trust

But this is the world
No one can really hope,
But maybe, just maybe
The curtains will part
The sun will shine
And you can smile
As the virus dies and ebbs
And sing, sing, sing
The virus hates happiness
